Criminal Check / Police Clearance Certificate

Police clearance certificates are issued to all Ghanaians upon request, whether resident in Ghana or non-residents living abroad. Police clearance is also available to foreign nationals who have resided in Ghana for three (3) months or more.

Individuals who previously resided in Ghana but are currently living in a foreign country and require a police report may register and submit their application online via the Ghana Police e-Services website.

Required information includes basic personal details, passport information, two passport-sized photographs, and brief details of a representative in Ghana. Applicants are advised to carefully follow the guidelines provided for completing the downloadable vetting form.

Applicants are required to pay the applicable official fee as indicated on the Ghana Police e-Services website.

Please note that, in cases where applications are submitted from abroad, fingerprints may not be taken; however, the information provided is sufficient for the police to process and issue the clearance certificate.

The Police Clearance Certificate is typically issued within ten (10) working days.
