Ghanaian Citizens Registration

Ghanaians who are resident abroad are encouraged, at the earliest opportunity, to register their names and addresses at the nearest Diplomatic Mission or Consulate of Ghana.

Failure to do so may, in periods of emergency, result in difficulties or delays in providing the necessary assistance and protection. Changes of address or departures from the country of residence should also be promptly communicated to the Mission or Consulate.

Registration of Ghanaians abroad is encouraged because it, among other benefits:

• Brings the Ghanaian community to the attention of the Mission
• Ensures easy identification and possible assistance to Ghanaian citizens
• Enables Government to be aware of its citizens abroad and factor this into its development agenda
